Questions & Answers

How does the electronic version differ from the physical version?

In terms of Mission specifics and plot, not at all.  The same 8 Missions that players experience in our physical version of Heroes Boot Camp are in the digital version as well.  The main difference is in the visualization and in the inclusion of additional materials, without any setup.  In the board game, the tiles are just that, static tiles.  It is up to the imagination of the players to visualize them moving and acting.  In the video game, the animations are performed immediately.  While the physical board game requires some setup time, the digital version is a plug and play, with the stages appearing as players progress.  However, the physical version allows for more customization by allowing different elements or mechanics to be included to suit the needs of the players.  A Game Master in the video game will have to employ the systems given to them, unable to change what is coded into the game.  However that does not mean that a creative Therapeutic Team could not think of ways to employ them to meet a specific need.

I'm a therapist and I know plenty of clients who could benefit from this game, what are the first steps I should take?

The first thing you should do is make sure you have a Game Master interested in running your sessions.  Tabletop Role Playing Games in general are incredibly popular, you'd be surprised at how easy it is to find someone who has at least some experience playing them!  After that, you need to determine which level of kit is right for you and the population you work with.  From there, you'll want to start scheduling group sessions with up to 6 players!

How will this game be made available, and will my system be able to run it?

We are currently looking at making this game available through Steam, which at this time is going to be a PC only option.  Included in the e-mail confirmation of your purchase will be a code to download the game, you would then log into Steam and download the game onto your computer.  We are currently testing compatibility with MAC's, tablets and other handheld electronic devices as well as looking into other platforms to deliver S.N.A.P.S. Heroes.  Since the graphics are pixel based in nature, we expect that if your computer can run a game like Minecraft, it can run Heroes Boot Camp without any issues.

What's the best way to play the electronic version?

Our Lead Game Designer recommends that the computer running the game be connected to a television of some kind, so the Game Master retains control over the computer (the controller) while the players can still see the screen.  If your computer screen is large enough, you could have your players sit around the Game Master.  Alternatively you could pass around the device the Game is on and have the players discuss their turn before confirming their actions.
